While direct academic concerns—such as the selection of electives—are straightforward, deeper issues like career choices, academic anxieties, and skill development demand consistent mentorship and personalized attention. To ensure holistic support, a student should have the same mentor throughout their academic journey.

Since 2005, MSIT has implemented a Faculty Advisor system, which has now been redefined and upgraded to a structured Mentoring System, aligning with NBA guidelines to enhance academic quality. This revised system fosters continuous expert guidance, significantly improving students’ academic and professional development.

Mentoring System Structure

Each faculty member serves as a mentor to a group of 20-25 students. The system is structured as follows:

First-year students will be mentored by faculty members from the Department of Basic Engineering & Science.

Second, third, and fourth-year students will have mentors from their respective parent departments.

The same mentor will continue guiding the students until their graduation to ensure consistency and trust.

Roles & Responsibilities of a Mentor

A mentor’s role extends beyond academics to personal, professional, and career development.
